KANINE Software was originally created by Bob Ives in 2000. The software was initially intended to track Bob’s K9 records, as he was an active K9 handler. As he began using the software, others wanted to use it for their record keeping needs. And, it soon grew into a sell-able product. Over the next 19 years, the software would grow to have an almost cult-like following with agencies large and small using the software with great success. As the software gained popularity and features, users would spread the word, telling all of their fellow handlers how easy and inclusive the system was to use. During these years, advertising was greatly limited to information contained on the website, and users simply showing the software to other users. Bob always made an effort to provide users with the most feature rich K9 software on the market, at the lowest price. Having been a Police Sergeant, he knew how important it was to provide the software at a ‘budget friendly’ price. 2016 found Bob fighting increased illness symptoms from something that has affected him since his participation in the first Gulf War (Gulf War Illness) with the 1st Infantry Division. Since 2016, increasingly debilitating symptoms began to make it more difficult for Bob to carry on business tasks. In the winter of 2019, Bob’s illness became worse, making it impossible for him to carry on day to day business. Fast forward to the present KANINE Software is beginning a new chapter. Bob is back part time, but prefers to stay behind the scenes. A new Partner, Mac Morgan, is now coming on-board to take over the daily tasks of sales and first line support. And, a new programming team has come on-board to bring new life to the KANINE software line and continue the Legacy. As a Skilled Search and Rescue dog handler and team leader, Mac definitely has the know how to help take the KANINE software line to the next level. And, his Search and Rescue ideas will surely impress our dedicated Search and Rescue software users. Additionally, with past Law Enforcement experience, Mac is dedicated to providing our Law Enforcement customers with the best K9 Tracking software available. What’s ahead With new challenges and a new partner, comes new ideas. There are a lot of exciting changes in the works that will help move the KANINE Software line forward, so that future K9 handlers can use the same tools for success as our current and past customers have. Here are some highlights, as we begin to move forward. KANINE SIX- KANINE SIX software has faced issues with weather retrieval due to changes made by our former weather provider. Our team has now been working with the new weather provider and we are close to an update that will bring this functionality back online. Additionally, the decision has been made to replace the synchronization feature with the ability to save and retrieve directly from the web. The ability to enter records disconnected, to post up later, will remain. However, synchronization will no longer be utilized. The first update, updating weather, is expected this week (End of May 2019). A second update, replacing synchronization will take just a little longer. But, the programming team will be working overtime to get this functionality on line. KANINE 5.0 is being upgraded to KANINE LEGACY KANINE 5.0 has been one of the most successful K9 Software programs in history. Originally, releasing in 2010, KANINE 5.0 has gained a cult like following and continues to be a well loved K9 tracking system. Because of the popularity of KANINE 5, we are proud to announce that there will be a sequel. In just a couple of weeks, KANINE 5.0 will be upgraded a new product called KANINE LEGACY and will once again begin receiving updates and improvements. As this transition occurs, KANINE 5.0 will be deprecated and will no longer be supported. KANINE LEGACY will be available for purchase by new customers as well as current KANINE 5.0 users for $59.50 yearly per user, with no startup fees. Current 5.0 users will need to purchase a license for the newer version. But, all current records will remain in place. We’ll keep you posted on a release date for this upgraded version as it moves forward. KANINE SAR For the first time ever, we will be offering a Search and Rescue specific program we are calling KANINE SAR. KANINE SAR is the brain child of our new Manager, Mac Morgan. Mac is highly experienced in search and rescue operations, and is guaranteed to provide a tracking program that SAR handlers everywhere will love. We expect this new version to be available NLT July 1st. Pricing Pricing is returning to pre-2019 pricing, as follows: KANINE SIX- $125.00 per user, per year. KANINE LEGACY- $69.50 per user per year. KANINE SAR- $69.50 per user per year. Please be patient as we transition. If you are a current user, we will be posting updates to KANINE SIX soon. Our programming team is working to bring a weather update to KANINE SIX this week. We will be posting our new phone and mailing information this site sometime later this week as we begin to fully transition away from our previous support providers, Magoo and Associates.
